About US

At my pinning ceremony 10 years ago, along with my class I received a lamp that looked a lot like this one. It symbolized the Nightingale lamp. We recited the Florence Nightingale pledge and blew out the candle.

Florence Nightingale was a nurse who used her lamp to check on patients (soldiers) during the Crimean War. She also wrote the curriculum for the first nursing school in the United States.

In December 2017, I decided to rebrand my health and wellness business, Excelsior Health. Starting with the logo, I wanted to change the colors and symbol. I chose gold and black because I love the color gold. I then added teal to the brand itself. For the new symbol, I wanted something that would represent what the brand stands for which is nurses helping others to reach optimal health. Not just through working in traditional healthcare, but alternative health as well.

That’s when the vision to use the symbol of the Nightingale lamp together with the caduceus symbol. I envisioned how it would look then drew it on a piece of paper. So I found a graphic designer within my network, Hasan Yates of Yates Custom Designs, LLC. and told him exactly what I wanted. After working together, he brought the vision to life.

Today, I will be taking this symbol and branding medical scrubs and athletic apparel. Offering it to nurses and those who support what we stand for. From our family to yours, we put lots of love and careful attention into each item. We hope you enjoy our work as much as we enjoy bringing it to you!
